Mama Ngina University Kenyatta University College is named after Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
CS Magoha stated that the institution has been under construction since 2016 and that students have been accepted despite the fact that they have been attending Kenyatta University campuses.
When fully operational, Mama Ngina University College is expected to stimulate growth by raising educational standards in the area.
Prof. Paul Wainaina, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kenya, said the college will be run by a principal, with KU administering a board of management through its academic programs and examinations.
Prof Wainaina further stated that the college is ready to be accredited, gazetted, and regularized prior to its opening, guaranteeing KU’s complete support till it becomes a fully-fledged university in three years.
“In a few years to come, we shall be forced to construct accommodation facilities as the number of students increases. Also, investors should seize the opportunity and construct hostels,” Prof Wainaina said.

Gatundu is a small town in Kenya’s Kiambu County. Mama Ngina University Application Requirements
A minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE or two primary passes at A level and one subsidiary in appropriate courses for undergraduate candidates.
Diploma candidates must have at least one primary pass or certificate in a relevant field from a recognized institution and a minimum mean grade of C- in KCSE, KCE level II, or KACE.
Certificate candidates must have a D+ (plus) average in KCSE or KCE level III, or any other credentials recognized by the KU Senate.
