KPA’s Bumpy Start: Dynamo Dominates in Group C Opener

In a disappointing kickoff to their BAL Group C Division campaign, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) faced a 75-63 defeat at the hands of Burundi’s Dynamo. The game unfolded at the ICT Gymnasium in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, leaving KPA with a daunting challenge ahead.

In the initial quarter, the porters struggled to find their footing, allowing Dynamo to seize control of the game’s pace. The second quarter painted a grim picture as Dynamo surged to a 29-15 lead, leaving KPA grappling for control. By halftime, Dynamo had built an imposing 41-26 advantage, leaving KPA trailing.

The woes continued into the third quarter as Dynamo extended their lead to 51-32, leaving KPA in a dire situation. Despite a late surge in the final quarter, Dynamo’s early dominance proved insurmountable. Tyrone Jordan and Ariel Okal were the only KPA players managing double digits, scoring 22 and 12 points respectively.

Dynamo’s victory was spearheaded by King Revolutionary and Israel Oyoro, both contributing 18 points, along with Guibert Mijimbere’s 15 points and Bienvenu Richard’s 14. With only group leaders advancing to the Elite 16, KPA faces a crucial task, needing victories against Elan Coton of Benin and Tanzania’s Pazi to keep their hopes alive.
