In a shocking revelation, Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has exposed a fraudulent land ownership scheme in Mavoko, unraveling a web of deception woven by the Aimi Ma Lukenya farmers’ association.
The Ministry of Lands, under Wahome’s recent leadership, declared that the disputed 4,298-hectare parcel legally belongs to the East African Portland Cement Company (EAPCC), emphasizing that all documents claiming otherwise are unequivocally fake.
Wahome minced no words, warning individuals engaging in deceptive land transactions, especially those employing share certificates, which she clarified as illegitimate proof of ownership. The ministry’s stance firmly rests on historical records and official documents that affirm the EAPCC as the rightful owner of Land Lr. No. 10424. According to Wahome, anyone occupying the land apart from EAPCC does so at their peril.
Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir echoed Wahome’s sentiments, asserting that the fake title documents might have been produced in unauthorized printing establishments, like River Road. He emphasized that the ministry’s records left no room for dispute regarding the land’s ownership.
Amidst the chaos of ongoing evictions, the Ministry of Lands placed the burden of compensation squarely on Aimi Ma Lukenya, should investigations reveal their involvement in fraudulent activities. Korir stressed that those responsible for deceiving innocent Kenyans must be held accountable.
While the ministry distanced itself from the actual execution of the evictions, it served notices to occupants of government-owned land, demanding immediate vacation. The ministry pledged decisive action against land grabbers, acknowledging the existence of vulnerabilities within its ranks that enable such encroachments on public land.
Despite these revelations, questions linger about the government’s past inaction and the fate of the victims left in the wake of this elaborate scam. The Mavoko Land Ownership Saga continues, as affected individuals and a frustrated public demand justice and restitution for their losses.
