In a chilling turn of events, the body of missing taxi driver, Evans Mochara, was discovered in Maragua Dam, Murang’a County, sparking a deepening investigation into his mysterious disappearance.
Police have positively identified the body, compelling them to seek an extension of 21 days to detain his wife, Teresia Masese, who is now the prime suspect in his murder.
Evans Mochara, 47, had gone missing from his Utawala home in the Mihango area, only for his lifeless body to be found dumped in the dam on October 14. His wife, Teresia, was taken into custody a week later after filing a suspicious missing person report. She is now facing charges of murder as the police delve into the details of the case.
During their investigation, the police revealed that Teresia had frequent communication with her missing husband. Call records showed that she was the last person to speak to Evans at 21:06 hours on the Wednesday night he disappeared, merely four hours before he was picked up from his home at 1 a.m. on Thursday.
Curiously, Teresia filed a missing person report at Kayole Police Station on Saturday, the same day Evans’ decomposing body was discovered. Before this grim revelation, Evans’ car embarked on a mysterious journey, leaving the Chokaa area at 1:44 AM on Thursday, passing through various locations including Kangundo Road, Sagana, Kirinyaga, Kasarani, Gitaru, Ongata Rongai, South C, and Pipeline, before being abandoned in Nairobi’s Njiiru area, just a few kilometers from his home.
As the investigation intensifies, the police are meticulously analyzing phone call records and searching for potential accomplices to determine who else might have been involved. Teresia, the key suspect, appeared in court where the police sought an extension of her detention to conclude their inquiries.
Postmortem examinations on Evans Mochara’s body are scheduled for Wednesday, adding another layer of depth to this tragic tale of disappearance and death.
