Comic sensation and renowned Nollywood actor, Mr. John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr. Ibu, is in the grips of a grave health challenge that could cost him one of his legs. After being bedridden for weeks due to an undisclosed ailment, the actor has reached out to fellow Nigerians for immediate help.
In a heartbreaking video shared widely on Instagram, Mr. Ibu revealed the grim situation from his hospital bed. He disclosed that doctors had hinted at the possibility of amputating his leg if all other treatment options failed. Expressing his desperation, he implored well-meaning Nigerians for prayers and financial assistance to avoid such a drastic measure.
“Dear Good People of Nigeria, we are counting on your support at this point, we need it the most,” he earnestly pleaded.
Adding to the plea, Mr. Ibu’s daughter, Jasmine Okafor, beseeched Nigerians to rally behind her father both in prayers and financially. She shared that their family resources had been entirely depleted, and they were seeking financial aid to facilitate her father’s medical treatment, preferably abroad, for a chance at proper medical attention.
Responding to the distressing situation, Peter Okoye of Psquare fame also joined the appeal, urging fans and well-wishers to come to the aid of the ailing actor. In an impassioned Instagram post, Peter Okoye pledged his wholehearted support and called on others to contribute whatever they could to assist Mr. Ibu.
“Our very own @realmribu (John Okafor) needs our help as he goes through a medical challenge. Our Nollywood legends deserve better; it’s time for us, the people, to show him love for bringing joy to our screens all these years,” Peter Okoye passionately shared. “He needs our prayers and financial support in this challenging time. Pray for his speedy recovery.”
Mr. Ibu has been in and out of the hospital since 2019, following allegations of poisoning by those envious of his successful career. Now, facing the possible loss of his leg, he looks to the compassion and generosity of Nigerians to preserve his mobility and health.
