In the wake of a widely circulated viral video, the Nairobi County Government is firmly asserting its commitment to addressing an altercation involving a male officer and a female motorist, Ntazola Gloria, who has gained prominence as a Tiktoker. The video captured the officer entering her vehicle without consent, sparking outrage among the public and condemnation for harassment by city askaris.
County Secretary Patrick Analo, while expressing condemnation for the county officer’s behavior, placed shared responsibility on both parties involved. Analo argued that Gloria should have taken the initiative to drive to a police station or county offices to report the alleged offense.
He confirmed that the incident was under investigation, emphasizing that the county office was diligently looking into the matter. Analo assured the public that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against the officer once the investigations were concluded.
The video, widely shared on various social media platforms, depicts Gloria confronting the askari while driving along the Nairobi Expressway. In the video, she vehemently questions him, expressing her outrage and asserting her rights.
Despite the tension, she vocalizes her intent to take him to Ngong, insisting that he had no right to intrude into her vehicle. Amidst a barrage of verbal exchanges, Gloria firmly stands her ground, determined to teach the officer a lesson.
In her own words, Gloria, visibly upset, questions the officer’s actions: “Mbona mnakuwanga hivo? Hiyo ilikuwa kitu ya kunikalia kwa gari yangu? Tunaenda na wewe mahali naenda,” (Translation: “Why are you behaving like this? Did you think you could just barge into my car? We’re going where I’m going.”)
She later disclosed that she drove the county officer to Kitengela and left him there.
The incident has not only sparked a public outcry but also raised important questions about the conduct of city officers and the rights of citizens.
The Nairobi County Government’s promise to take decisive action in this matter underscores the importance of accountability and respect for the rights of individuals, sending a strong message against unwarranted intrusions and harassment.
