Safaricom PLC has stated that certain of its services would be unavailable from Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 10 p.m. until Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 9 a.m. due to a scheduled update.

“The timing of the maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to our customers,” part of the notice read.

According to a notification, a few services, including all product purchases, balance inquiries, Okoa Jahazi, Tunukiwa, all Bonga Points services, postpaid payment, and home fibre payment, will be unavailable for 10 hours.

“All calls, M-Pesa, internet and data, and SMS services shall remain available for the entire duration of maintenance,” said Safaricom.

Millions of consumers on its network are anticipated to be impacted by the repair. However, the telecommunication company apologized for the inconveniences.

“We are sorry for any inconveniences”, said Safaricom.

Safaricom just released an M-Pesa mini-application that allows customers to utilize the service while offline. The M-PESA Super App is the name of the app. They also released the M-PESA Business App.

Customers may use the new Super App to complete transactions even if they don’t have access to data or are completely offline.

In addition, Safaricom has launched a 5G network. 5G is well suited to offering super-fast internet connections in densely populated regions and connecting thousands of linked devices, such as in manufacturing and supply chain management.
