Southern Bypass to Shut Down for 14 Hours due to 2023 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

The KeNHA (Kenya National Highways Authority) has issued a notice regarding the temporary closure of the Southern Bypass, set to last for 14 hours. This road closure is scheduled to take place from midnight on Saturday, October 28, 2023, through 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023. The primary reason for this closure is the upcoming 2023 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

The affected section of the Southern Bypass spans from the Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town. To ensure the smooth flow of traffic during this period, KeNHA will deploy traffic marshals and police personnel along the highway, working diligently to prevent traffic congestion and disruptions.

This directive will impact various routes, including Waiyaki Way, which is commonly used as an alternative for trucks and trailers that frequently traverse the Southern Bypass. Motorists planning to travel from Langata Road (Galleria Mall) to Kikuyu via the Southern Bypass are advised to opt for the Dagoretti Road route via Langata Road instead.
