UDA Party to Hold Grassroot Elections in December 2023

In a significant move towards fostering unity and transparency within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, preparations are underway for the much-anticipated grassroots elections scheduled for December. These elections aim to handpick bona fide officials, from the local polling stations to the highest echelons of national leadership.

During the official inauguration of a party office in Nyeri, President William Ruto, the charismatic leader of the UDA party, underlined the importance of these forthcoming polls. He emphasized that party members should brace themselves for a rigorous democratic process, reaffirming that no party positions would be handed out on a silver platter.

“I want to make it clear to all our members that party positions will not be determined by backroom deals. They must be earned through a truly democratic electoral process,” asserted President Ruto.

Ruto elucidated the rationale behind these elections, articulating a vision to transcend the divisive politics of ethnicity. He envisioned the UDA as a national party that would represent the interests of all Kenyans, irrespective of their tribal affiliations.
“Our goal is to eradicate tribalism from the core of our party politics. The only path forward is to build a robust, inclusive party that accommodates every Kenyan tribe,” Ruto stated emphatically.

In alignment with his vision, the President stressed the importance of establishing a resilient governance framework within the party. He affirmed that this would facilitate the practical realization of the party’s manifesto.

Furthermore, President Ruto pledged to unveil a real-time timetable for the upcoming elections, urging aspiring leaders to actively engage with party members in the lead-up to the polls.
The sentiments expressed by President Ruto found resonance in the words of UDA’s Chair, Governor Cecile Mbarire of Embu, and the Party Secretary-General, Cleophas Malala. Both echoed the commitment to ensuring that the upcoming elections would be characterized by fairness, openness, and a genuine democratic spirit.
