Ann Adhiambo Akinyi Arrested in Eric Maigo Murder Case

In a significant breakthrough, authorities have successfully apprehended the prime suspect linked to the tragic murder of Nairobi Hospital’s Acting Finance Director, Eric Maigo. Ann Adhiambo Akinyi, the elusive fugitive who had remained at large since the incident transpired last week, was finally captured in a meticulously orchestrated operation carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the Kibra region.

Ann Adhiambo Akinyi now finds herself in custody at the Muthaiga Police Station, awaiting her imminent transfer to the Kilimani Police Station, where the ongoing investigation into the murder is centered. The incident itself unfolded in a horrific manner, with Eric Maigo being brutally stabbed 25 times on the fateful morning of September 15, 2023.

The suspect’s audacious escape attempts were caught on camera, as she desperately tried to flee from the crime scene, located at Woodley Annex–Upper, by scaling over the perimeter wall.

Authorities credit the wide dissemination of her images across the internet on Thursday for crucially aiding in her eventual capture. This digital manhunt eventually led to the recovery of the clothing she had worn during the crime, which was found in the vicinity of Bombolulu village in Kibra.

An intriguing twist in the investigation has emerged as it was revealed that the apprehended suspect is estimated to be between 15 to 17 years old. This development adds a layer of complexity to the case.

Notably, Cynthia Lusega Andalo, another individual who had previously been taken into custody in connection with the gruesome murder, found herself released by the court.

The prosecution cited a lack of sufficient evidence to charge or further detain her as the reason for her release, leaving the ongoing investigation to focus on Ann Adhiambo Akinyi as the primary suspect.
