In a surprising turn of events, Ezra Chiloba, the suspended Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), has officially resigned from his position. The decision came after Chiloba submitted his resignation letter to the CA’s Board of Directors yesterday, marking the end of a tumultuous chapter in his career.
Chiloba’s departure follows his suspension last month, stemming from allegations of a significant breach of his role. He was accused of unauthorized actions, specifically for applying and approving a mortgage loan without adhering to the appropriate procedures, leading to his removal from office.
Mary Mungai, Chairperson of the CA Board, expressed her sentiments, saying, “On behalf of the Authority, I extend my best wishes to the outgoing Director General in his future endeavors. We acknowledge his valuable contributions to the organization and the broader ICT sector.”
Ezra Chiloba, well-known for his previous role as the CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC), had taken over the CA post in 2021, succeeding the late Francis Wangusi. Following his resignation, Christopher Wambua has been appointed as the acting Director General, assuming the crucial responsibilities at CA. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
