Road Closures Amidst Kericho’s 60th Mashujaa Day Celebrations

As the 60th Mashujaa Day celebrations approach in Kericho County, residents are gearing up for a grand event marked by significant traffic and logistical adjustments. The Rift Valley Regional Commissioner (RC), Abdi Hassan, unveiled crucial directives on Wednesday, October 19, designed to streamline road usage and bolster security during the festivities.

According to the RC, only vehicles with red and blue plates will be permitted to navigate the streets of Kericho, leaving other motorists to explore alternative routes. Public service vehicles, in particular, will be rerouted to designated drop-off areas, barring them from the town’s main thoroughfares.

In an effort to maintain order, the Kericho main stage will be off-limits to the public, serving exclusively as a parking area for vulnerable individuals and the elderly.

Moreover, Moi Garden ACK Church and Immanuel have been designated as reserved parking spaces for VIPs, VVIPs, diplomats, and service providers. These areas will be identified by red, blue, and white stickers respectively, ensuring smooth identification and allocation.

Raymond Omollo, the Interior Principal Secretary, recently confirmed Kericho’s readiness to host this national event. President William Ruto is set to preside over the festivities on Friday, October 20, at the Kericho Green Stadium. Omollo emphasized that this year’s Mashujaa celebrations will shine a spotlight on Universal Health Care, aligning seamlessly with one of the core pillars of Kenya Vision 2030.

Throughout the week-long event, Kericho County will showcase a myriad of healthcare initiatives undertaken by the Ruto administration. Additionally, the celebrations will feature a special segment dedicated to honoring heroes from all corners of the country.

Approximately 150 exemplary individuals have been chosen to attend the event in person, symbolizing the collective heroism that resonates across Kenya. As Kericho’s streets temporarily quiet down, the stage is set for a memorable and inspiring 60th Mashujaa Day celebration.
