In a significant stride toward a healthier Kenya, the UHC Afya Nyumbani exhibition in Kericho County is now in its fourth day, showcasing groundbreaking initiatives aimed at revolutionizing healthcare accessibility for all Kenyans.
The Afya Nyumbani program, a brainchild of the Ministry of Health, is gearing up for nationwide implementation. Its mission? To ensure that every Kenyan, regardless of their location, can readily access essential medical care.
The heart of this transformative initiative is the ongoing Afya Nyumbani Exhibition, a precursor event leading up to this year’s Mashujaa Day celebration at Kapkatet Stadium in Kericho County, scheduled for October 20th. This exhibition is more than just a display of healthcare advancements; it serves as a powerful platform for Kenya’s active participation in the Universal Healthcare movement.
At the forefront of this exhibition are dedicated stakeholders, passionately invested in showcasing a myriad of programs and projects. These endeavors all share a common goal: to broaden the horizons of healthcare accessibility for every citizen of Kenya.
Speaking eloquently in Kericho County, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Susan Nakhumicha, outlined the ministry’s strategic approach. Nakhumicha emphasized the ministry’s commitment to four vital pillars integral to delivering Universal Health Coverage.
The first pillar centers on ensuring commodity security, a concept recently inaugurated by the President. This guarantees a stable supply chain for essential medical resources. The second pillar prioritizes human resources for health, focusing on empowering and effectively managing motivated healthcare workers.
Digitization takes center stage as the third pillar, with innovative deployment of digital tools, including locally assembled gadgets, for streamlined health commodity management. The ministry’s final and crucial pillar revolves around social health insurance, emphasizing financial inclusivity in healthcare.
With unwavering determination, Nakhumicha stated that the government is resolute in its mission to grant every Kenyan access to healthcare services without financial strain. She expressed gratitude for the support received, acknowledging the nation’s collective efforts as champions of universal health coverage.
As the final approvals for pending bills loom on the horizon, Kenya stands on the brink of a transformative era in healthcare, promising a future where quality medical assistance is the birthright of every citizen.
