Jalang’o Reveals Generous Support from Raila Odinga in His Campaign Journey

Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, recently unveiled the significant backing he received from ODM leader Raila Odinga during his campaign, a substantial contribution of Sh5 million.

Jalang’o expressed his gratitude for Raila’s financial support, emphasizing that without it, his campaign would have faced substantial challenges. He went on to underscore Raila’s pivotal role in his political journey, not limited to endorsements but also extending to financial assistance.

Recalling the extent of Raila’s support, Jalang’o stated, “We are among the few people that Baba told to plan an event, and he would grace it to support us in our election. He gave me personally Sh5 million.”

This revelation came to light during an interview with TV47 on a Friday, where Jalang’o reminisced about the fierce competition he encountered during his campaign, especially against the incumbent Lang’ata MP at the time, Nickson Korir.

Despite the passage of time, Jalang’o still holds Raila in high regard and regards him as a fatherly figure. “Baba knows very well, wherever he is right now, he knows that I am his son and Baba loves me so much,” he affirmed.

Even after his expulsion from the ODM party, Jalang’o remained steadfast in his commitment to the party, explaining that he would maintain his membership until receiving direct communication from Raila instructing him otherwise.

He asserted, “The party belongs to Raila Amollo Odinga, and if I have not received communication from him, I am an ODM member, the Lang’ata MP until 2027. Take this to the bank because it is the truth. No changes have been made.”

Jalang’o’s expulsion from the party was part of a broader move by the ODM party’s National Executive Council. The decision to expel them was reached during a NEC meeting convened by Raila Odinga himself.
