Are Karura forest monkeys forced to wear mask like humans? You wont believe this. Each and every day Sykes monkeys, and Columbus monkeys are seen wearing a mask. In fact, the monkeys put on the mask the recommended way much better than some of us.
In the recent past, several impressive photos has been circulating of a number of monkeys in masks in Karura forest. None of the animals has been coaxed to put on the mask and neither is it a requirement for them.
Just have a look of these wonders of nature, a monkey in blue mask. The Sykes monkey was seen near the River Café well dressed up in a mask oblivious of its use. However, since it is capable of imitating human actions the mammal has done exactly what it has seen humans doing in the recent past.
Several other colombus monkeys have equally been seen wearing a mask by the FKF Scouts on patrol. The monkeys collect the disposed masks by humans and put them on.
Reasons Why Karura Forest Monkeys Wear Masks
The big question, is why do monkey put on the mask? The following reasons are possible explanation for the bizarre animal behavior.
1. Ability To Imitate
These primate animals have much intelligence to imitate others in the environment. Since the monkeys are sharing the same ecosystem with humans, they have learnt to imitate some of the human behaviors.
2. Survival For The Fittest
Scientifically, it has been proven that animals able to learn a new environment and perhaps embrace key elements have increased their reproductive and survival chances in that ecosystem. The faster the animals develop adaptive survival techniques within their environment, the higher the chances of the animal to survive and procreate.
