In a heartbreaking turn of events, the life of 29-year-old Jane Mwende Mwanzia, the talented hairdresser who vanished without a trace two weeks ago, has come to a tragic end. Her lifeless body was cruelly disposed of in a pit latrine in the Mlolongo area, a mere stone’s throw away from her workplace.
The grim discovery unfolded when the suspects, apprehended last week concerning Mwende’s mysterious disappearance, provided critical information to the authorities. Initially, these individuals had deliberately misled the investigators, directing them towards the Magongo forest in the Wote region of Makueni County. However, their narrative took a shocking twist, leading the police to Kiserian, ultimately revealing the harrowing truth of where Jane Mwende’s remains were concealed—Mlolongo.
Throughout this heart-wrenching ordeal, family, friends, and colleagues of Jane Mwende had relentlessly combed through countless police stations, hospitals, and morgues in a desperate quest for answers since her abrupt disappearance two weeks ago.
The distressing tale began on the fateful morning of Friday, August 25th, when Jane received a phone call from an individual posing as a client needing her hairdressing services at their residence. Little did she know that this call would seal her tragic fate as she left for the appointment and never returned.
Winnie Munyau, a fellow hairdresser at the salon, recalled, “She received a phone call and, after leaving, she has never returned to work.” Jennifer Mwende, another colleague, added, “She left the salon but did not say where she was heading. She simply picked up her phone and left, leaving us in bewilderment.”
The gravity of the situation escalated when Jane failed to report for work the following day, and her phone remained ominously silent. Her absence became apparent when she did not retrieve her child from her Yatta home in Machakos after the August holiday.
As the investigation unfolds, the Mlolongo Police Station is now delving into the possibility of a connection between Jane’s disappearance, a perplexing love triangle, and her involvement in the real estate industry. It is alleged that Jane was embroiled in a dispute with another woman in Mlolongo town over a man the authorities have already questioned. Curiously, the other woman has mysteriously vanished from Mlolongo town since Jane’s disappearance, raising even more questions in this perplexing tragedy.
