In a tragic turn of events, Wilson Sossion, the former secretary general of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), finds himself engulfed in profound sorrow following the passing of his beloved mother. The devastating news was shared by Sossion himself through his social media platform on Sunday, leaving the nation in mourning alongside him.
Sossion, a former Nominated Member of Parliament championing workers’ rights in Kenya’s National Assembly, disclosed the heartbreaking incident without delving into specific details. His mother, Ruth Chepng’eno Sossion, succumbed after collapsing at home, compelling a rush to the hospital where, tragically, she was declared dead upon arrival.
Expressing his grief, Sossion wrote, “It is with deep shock and sorrow that we announce the passing on to glory of our beloved mother Ruth Chepng’eno Sossion. She collapsed at home and was pronounced dead on arrival at Tenwek Hospital. May she Rest In Eternal Peace.”
Adding to his recent challenges, Sossion’s political journey had been marred by setbacks. Despite his nomination as a Member of Parliament by Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and National Heritage, a position appointed by President William Ruto, the courts nullified his appointment, adding to the somber atmosphere surrounding him.
This heartbreaking loss not only affects Sossion personally but also reverberates through the community he serves, reminding us all of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing our loved ones while we can.
