Streamlined Passport Pickup: Immigration Department’s Innovative Solution

The Kenyan State Department of Immigration Services has taken a significant step towards improving its services, as it recently unveiled a new system for passport applicants. In alignment with the directives of Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, the Immigration Department has now published the names of passport applicants whose documents are ready for collection. This innovative approach aims to streamline the passport collection process, making it more efficient and convenient for Kenyan citizens.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki had earlier introduced a nationwide Rapid Results Initiative (RRI), specifically focusing on the collection of passports every Wednesday. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the overall service delivery of the Immigration Department.

In a recent statement issued on a Wednesday, the Immigration Department revealed that a staggering total of 87,574 passports are now available for collection at the same Immigration office where the applications were initially submitted.

To ensure a smooth and organized process, the Immigration Department has devised a plan to distribute the passports over the next 30 days, starting from September 25, 2023. What sets this system apart is the transparent way in which the department plans to communicate with applicants.

The names of passport applicants scheduled for each day will be made accessible to the public through the department’s official website and social media channels.

This proactive step allows Kenyan citizens to check the schedule and confirm the specific day on which they are expected to pick up their passports. Failing to adhere to this schedule may result in penalties, so it is crucial for applicants to stay informed.

Here’s a quick guide on how to check the published passport collection schedule:

  1. Visit the official website of the Interior Ministry.
  2. Scroll down and locate the “Announcements” tab, which houses various categories, including press releases, public participation notices, tenders, and Gazette Notices.

By following these simple steps, applicants can easily access the information they need to ensure a hassle-free passport collection process. The Immigration Department’s commitment to transparency and efficiency demonstrates its dedication to serving the Kenyan public effectively.

This new approach not only simplifies the process for passport applicants but also showcases the government’s efforts to improve its services continually.
