In a chilling turn of events, a young girl who recently completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2021 has found herself implicated in the gruesome murder of Eric Maigo, the Acting Finance Chief at Nairobi Hospital.
The lifeless body of the 40-year-old victim was discovered in his Woodley Estate residence in Nairobi, bearing the horrific mark of 25 stab wounds, sending shockwaves through the community.
Law enforcement authorities, fueled by a sense of urgency, initiated a search for a mysterious woman captured on CCTV leaving the victim’s residence in the aftermath of the heinous crime. Her image had been circulated far and wide.
In a recent breakthrough, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that they had successfully recovered clothing believed to have been worn by the prime suspect during the brutal murder that occurred on September 15, 2023.
The discovery led them to a semi-permanent wooden shack tucked away in Bombolulu village, deep within the sprawling Kibera settlement. Among the retrieved items were a distinctive red checkered shirt and a grey pair of animal-print pants.
The identity of the teenage girl, who reportedly completed her KCPE examinations at the Dagoretti Approved School, remains shrouded in mystery. The DCI estimates her age to fall within the range of 15 to 17 years and is actively pursuing leads to ascertain her current whereabouts.
This development marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation, following the DCI’s prior appeal to the public for any information regarding the suspects involved in this shocking crime. The release of CCTV footage showing the suspect fleeing the crime scene through the back door had intensified the search efforts.
Adding a macabre twist to the unfolding tragedy, authorities have also uncovered two blood-stained knives at the crime scene, believed to be the murder weapons that brought about the untimely demise of Eric Maigo.
