How Long Does NYS Training Take in Kenya? Qualifications

The National Youth Service (NYS) is in charge of mentoring youth by involving them in national youth development programs and technical training for various skills. However, in order to become a full NYS member, you must first complete some training. The NYS training period is brief. There, you will be able to learn a variety of skills that will aid you in your career. Following the training, you will be approved and assigned to various positions.

NYS training takes a period of 6 months for one to complete the training in Kenya. The training, however, has got an age bracket. This means that when you are aged between 18 and 22, you can volunteer to join NYS.

Looking for an NYS salary in Kenya? Well, NYS’s salary has got some range. There will be variations depending on the position. In simple terms, the salary ranges from Ksh. 18,000 to Ksh. 200,000.

Training Requirements for NYS

NYS training requirements include:

  • A certificate of good conduct.
  • Must hold at least a grade of a D plain in KCSE.
  • Have a valid ID card.
  • Photocopies of academic certificates.

NYS course intake is done twice every year. The intake will hold up to 10,000 people ready for training.
